August 5th, 2008 We all love lists.
And here’s mine for today:
- upload the photos taken from Tony and Tina’s wedding
- clean out my purse
- backup my hard drive
- finish the FontWerks newsletter
- buy some oatmeal for tomorrow’s breakfast
- go for a 30 minute power walk
- finish uploading more client proofs
- take a nap
So much to do. So little time. Isn’t that the truth?
BINDER LOVE
When 2Ps started carrying the Making Memories kraft binders, I grabbed a few of the scalloped ones for my own collection. And today, I decided to share the covering if one of the albums I’ve completed along with a page inside. I love 3-ring binders because you can modulate them however you want. And with the example shown, you’ll see that I’ve punched holes into a Jenni Bowlin 5×7 bingo card and inserted that right into the binder, sans page protector. Love the look of multi-sized, multi-layered pages. Fun! Now I’m crossing my fingers that Making Memories will release this album in 12×12. I’d jump for joy at that.

July 10th, 2008 Using my stuff.
Through the generosity of others, I’ve found myself lucky enough to have a lot of scrapbook and art supplies to play with. Coupled with the supplies and tools I purchase for myself, I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff. Quite honestly, I have more than I need. This isn’t necessarily a good thing.
I have a personal rule that I started two years ago which is that I must use my stuff within six months of getting it. If I haven’t, then that item gets donated out. It doesn’t matter if it’s still in its package. If I haven’t bothered using it within six months, it gets tossed into my donation box.
Good rule, right? I’m very strict with myself and really do follow it. And it’s painful when I go through my stash and donate out an item just because I was too lazy to use it. Sucks that I spent money on something I never bothered using. Double sucks when it’s an item someone generously sent my way.
So to get out of that rut I started making my own kits. I grab different combos of patterned paper and cardstock and a variety of embellishments, put them all in 12″x13″ Itoya PolyZip Envelopes (my absolute favorite carriers), and stack them in a large wicker basket. When I feel like creating, I grab a collection and just go at it. Works like a dream. And I force myself to use the items that are only in that specific kit.
This works for me because my style of scrapbooking is such that I frequently combine odd embellishments/papers together. I create these kits immediately when I purchase or am gifted new items. I combine new supplies with older items, frequently pulling things together without thinking how they’ll work together. I don’t remember half the time what I’ve put together. And it may be months (but less than six!) before I actually pull out a kit to work with. Opening up one is always fun, though, because I find items to play with that I forgot I even had and am re-energized to use that item again.
Two thumbs up.
So that’s a little method to my madness. What’s yours?
July 6th, 2008 Color me happy.
Because this month I’m the guest designer for the Freehand Scraps kit club. I met Heidi, the owner, and DT member Amanda at CHA this past winter at the 2Peas Ice Cream Social and they were just sweethearts. So when Heidi asked if I could serve as their guest designer for this month, I jumped at the chance. This month’s kit titled “Flutter” just screams Grace (!!) all over it because of the colors included. Is it obvious yet how much I love color? The kit also includes little bits like vintage postage stamps and fabric swatches that add to its uniqueness. Love it.
Here are two projects I created with pieces from the kit. The combos from the kit are fantastic.

Thanks for letting me share!
Cheers!
May 22nd, 2008 I’m leaving on a jet plane.
Kinda. If you call Southwest planes jets.
I’m on my way to Chicago! To meet up with Joy! And do fun stuff! Whee!
Yeah, but not yet. I’m stuck in Oakland waiting for my flight. It’s been delayed two hours, which means I won’t be landing in Chicago until close to 3a.m. Poor Joy since she has to pick me up.
So while I’m waiting, I’ve connected myself to the interwebs and am now catching up on episodes of Top Chef: Chicago on You Tube. Is that legal? I don’t even know, but if someone puts it up, I will watch.
ART THERAPY
I need some. Like right now. I’ve been so busy at work that I haven’t had the time to just create random acts of art. Haven’t had the time to even blog. No excuses, I know, but there you have it. I expect I’ll be messing around in Joy’s stash so we’ll see what the weekend brings.
LABEL TULIP SHARES
Layouts! That I did as the guest designer this month for Label Tulip. I really love this club because the girls on the team are awesome. They love to scrapbook and they show it off well. Fantastic team, fantastic talent, fantastic product choice. And I’m honored to be with them this month.

May 12th, 2008 Say hello to my Copic pens.
(Trying for a nod to Scarface. Did I pull it off?)
Got my Copic markers late last week and I actually took a photo of them to share. Such perfect, pretty pens. Endless possibilities. They work beautifully with stamps and they blend seamlessly.
You know there’s something wrong with me when I go ga-ga for markers.

May 7th, 2008 Moleskin 299
I got my Moleskine for The Sketchbook Project today. I have until August 1st to turn in my tricked out Moleskine so that it can be included in the gallery showing. It’s 64 pages of very intimidating, very naked pages. I don’t know if my creative mind is up to the challenge, but believe me I’m going to try.
Wish me luck!
September 24th, 2007 Journal Entry 002
I had a sad heart day the other day. Man, was I down. So I created this just to pick myself up again. Very therapeutic.
I hope you guys had a better weekend. And that today will be fantastic.
