March 10th, 2008 Two photos and some work.
First this fortune. I wonder what drama is going on in my life for the universe to drop this nugget of wisdom in my hands.
Second, these tangerines. This one brightens up my day more. Tangerines sticker-ed cuteness.
FISKARS MARCH ARTICLE
Mine is up on the site! Loved doing these projects. I had lots and lots of fun with the Fiskars Butterfly 2 Shape Template. When I started scrapbooking so long ago, shape templates were it for me. And playing with this set reminded me of just how cool these things really are. So here are the two layouts I created to accompany the article as well as the projects and peeks. (Simply click on the photos for a larger view.)
“Such a Girl” - Here’s a photo I took from my friend Louise’s shop, Country Clutter, in Chepstow, Wales. Lots of cute and girly product that I wanted to take home with me. I mimicked the lace on her dress up doll by using paper doilies that are seen from behind the layout.
“Fly” - Here’s one I did of my friend’s child, taken during a photo session I had with them when she was just two months old. I wanted to write a message to her for this page and did so under the butterfly wings.
Butterfly Clips - These were real fun to make and so easy! Just pair up different shapes from the template and you’re good to go.
That’s it from me for the day. Hope your week starts off drama-free and cute!
March 6th, 2008 The value of the ‘SAVE’ key.
After yesterday’s debacle, I’ve learned the lesson and will continually press SAVE for every other sentence. Never do I want to re-write another post again. You’d think I would have learned this already. But that Grace, so hard-headed, LOL.
SCRAP FOR A CURE
I am very happy to announce that I am this month’s guest designer for the Scrap for a Cure kit club. Proceeds of the sale of their kits go to charities close to their heart. This month’s kit is helping the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. This hits home for me because my family has a strong history of diabetes. So I am very honored to design on behalf of such a worthy cause.
And did I mention before how I got along so well with the girls of the club? I met them at this past CHA and, oh my gosh, they’re flippin’ fantastic! They’re passionate about this hobby and their cause and I’m so happy to know them.
Here’s a photo of me with them at the TwoPeas social. And one of the layouts I created for the month.

ONLY 4 MONTHS
Until I turn 30 and there are still so many things I want to accomplish before the day arrives. I’ve had trouble sleeping because of it. You know how you can stay awake at night because you have lists in your head? It seems to me my list is never-ending and this bothers me in a real way. I have so many things on my Before I Turn 30 list still yet to achieve. I haven’t yet learned how to drive stick shift. I haven’t even tried rock climbing. There’s a painting in my room that’s unfinished. And instead of shrinking in size, I’ve grown.
Priorities. I need to prioritize.
And I found this photo of me the other day, taken by my friend Gina. I think I was 27 in this photo. I want to look like this again. I want to be this unconditionally happy.
ART THERAPY
Are you doing Rhonna’s 21 Day Challenge that’s hosted on TwoPeas? I am and it’s been a good release for me. I’ll post my work-to-date (hopefully) by tomorrow. And this is good practice for the The Sketchbook Project I signed up for. I’m all about sketchbooks these days.
Happy Thursday, all. Until tomorrow!
February 28th, 2008 It’s in the details.
Oh, wonderful Girl Scout cookie, how beautiful you are. Lemon Chalet Creme. Your beauty is enhanced by the details of your form. The pine trees, the snow-covered mountains, the cabin on a moon-lit night. Sheer perfection.
Seriously, I’m being silly, but these cookies are fantastic. And I especially enjoy it because of all the details put into its design. It’s the details, people, the details that get me. It really is the little things that count.
GUEST DESIGNER SNEAK
I’m guest designer this coming March for a fantastic kit club who’s local to me. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting these ladies and they are a hoot! And I’m honored to be their flavor for the month of March.
Below are two sneaks of layouts I created. You’ll have to come back March 1st to see who these designs are for.
Until tomorrow for another round of Grace’s Love List. Cheers!
February 25th, 2008 Hey you.
Here’s to wishing for a good week, good eats, good photos, and good art.
JUST ASK THESE GUYS
February 22nd, 2008 Grace’s Love List - 2/22
I thought it would be good practice for me to put together a love list of current faves and post it every Friday. I might as well start today.
- The Sketchbook Project hosted by the Art House Co-Op. An interesting idea and one I signed up for. Can’t wait to start.
- The Unfold Laptop Bag created by Working Class Heroes. Maker of cool bags galore, WCH has really outdone themselves with this beauty.
- Cherie Mask’s newest digital kit from 2Peas - Spring Wings ‘n Things. Bold shapes, cute images - my Silhouette is going to have a field day with these.
- The Gauntlet III on MTV. I think I’ve seen every Real World vs. Road Rules vs. Veterans vs. Rookies vs. Male vs. Female Gauntlets/Infernos/Battle of the Sexes, etc. that MTV’s ever hosted. I am truly addicted to this kind of reality TV. Why that is, I don’t know, but I love it still.
- Aperture 2, baby! Finally, Apple has updated their camera raw software and I’ve made (yet another) commitment to subscribe to the Apple philosophy on photographic raw workflow. This one’s a new beast for me to learn, so wish me luck.
- Since I can’t sew or stitch worth my life, I appreciate anyone who can. And I love looking at the creations from the members of the Sew Much Fun blog. Seriously, it is actually sew much fun.
That’s it from me for now. Happy Friday!
February 18th, 2008 My iPhone is a superstar.
Did I mention how much I love Team FontWerks? The company, yes, because I subscribe to Kah-Mei’s vision of wanting to provide quality products that all artists can use. But a large part of the love is from the girls on the team. They are quality people and I’m blessed to know them.
I love my friends. I especially love my friends when they’re cheesing for my iPhone.
Alas, there is no photo of me attempting a triple axel. Aw, darn. Shucks. Too bad.

February 10th, 2008 They totally got me.
The students who took my “re:ality: Journal Album Class” at The Scrapbook Oasis this past Friday night. They are my people. They understood my message, the purpose of the album, and was more than willing to play along and get messy. And messy they got: painting, stamping, inking, spritzing - they did it all! The students were simply fantastic and I was so happy to be there with them.
I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to teach again at one of my favorite stores. Special thanks to Karen & company for helping me out. They were behind me all the way and I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive group. And special thanks to Karen’s hubby for the boy advice.
Here are just a few photos I took during class. Look at them go!
And can you spot Kah-Mei? So glad she and Allison were there to offer a helping hand.
Thanks, ladies, for being such awesome students! It felt good to see familiar faces and meet some new ones. Hope you guys had a fun time. I had a blast!
CHA TOMORROW
And now I’m going off to sleep. I’ll be posting pics as often as I can of whatever silliness goes on with us at FontWerks. It’ll be Kah-Mei, Laura-loo, Sara, and myself manning the FontWerks booth. If you’re at the show, make sure to stop by and say, “Hi!” And if you know the sign, I’ll give you a high-five.
February 1st, 2008 A break from the storm.
Took these shots from the window out of my office’s conference room during a break from the rain that’s been non-stop. Taken with my point & shoot camera.
Look what God gave us.
January 27th, 2008 Wishing everyone a Happy Monday.
“Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace and power in it.”
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

January 25th, 2008 The processing continues.
How I do it:
- Adjust levels and curves.
- Duplicate layer.
- Change blend mode.
- Mask in color.
- Adjust hue and saturation.
- Repeat steps 1- 5 as needed.
- Experiment with color overlays if I’m feeling like it.
Not necessarily in that order and dependent on the mood I want to project.
God, I love taking photos.
PS: Thanks to everyone for helping me select which Curious George photo to use on the last post. I’ll share soon which one I’ll use. ![]()
