July 11th, 2008 No love for the Love List today.

But crossing my fingers for tomorrow.

No Internet because my laptop battery is dead and I left my charger in the hotel room. Brilliant, Grace.

No mobile phone service because my generation one iPhone is being “serviced” in hopes of it getting traded in for the newest one that just came out today. Hmmm…

So I’m paying for service at an Internet cafe. Just dandy. Trying to catch up on email. Trying to get phone service so I can return calls. Let’s see how that goes.

So I’m hoping the Love List will go up tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me!

April 15th, 2008 Tuesday, Tuesday

War or Peace?

TO-DO TODAY

  1. Verify the status of my tax refund. (Yay!)
  2. Determine what I want to spend my tax refund on.
  3. Come up with a better invoice/receipt system for tax filing next year.
  4. Put any remaining tax refund money to savings to buy more happy stuff in the future.

WHO READS THE GRACE’S LOVE LISTS?
Should I  move these lists to another day of the week or should I just keep them for Friday? I’m curious as to your internet browsing habits.

LOVING MY LENS
Loving it. Took these last week of a friend. She’s beautiful. Huge eyes.

314

That’s the magic number. That’s how many emails I have unread. *Sigh* Today I’ll try to get to half of them. Wish me luck.

Have a great day!

April 9th, 2008 Happy today.

Today is a good day. Today is a very good day. I got my new lens and I love it.

Here are some photos I took of my mother’s orchids. I should go back and take wide angled shots, but for now, just these.

And a blossom from our family’s Fuji Apple tree. Can’t wait for the fruit.

And me being silly. Took a shot of my favorite things right now:

  • The newest by Stephanie Laurens
  • My Dot Grid Book from Behance (which I added an Apple Store sticker to, hee)
  • A flight confirmation to Chicago in May (more on that later!)

Gonna go play some more. Peace.

April 4th, 2008 Grace’s Love List - 4/4

  • I always enjoy getting stuff in the mail and I go nuts when that mailed item comes in a super creative envelope. The Envelope Collective describes the phenomenon as “art gone postal” and that’s so true. Check out the site and look through their gallery of re-purposed, arted envelopes. Fun.
  • The school-kid in me strikes again! Just ordered this ruled mug from Fishs Eddy. They also have designed mugs in graph paper, notebook lined, and script green. I plan to collect them all and keep my art pencils, paintbrushes, and the like in them. I’ll keep one, though, for drinks and write myself reminder notes while I’m enjoying some tea. Brilliant.
  • I’ll confess that I was never one of the cool kids while growing up. No surprises there. But I think I can finally get some cool kid cred if I get myself this Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine. Perpetual Kid just got these in stock and I want one bad. Like really bad. Summer’s on its way and I want to make my own fruit-flavored sno cones.

  • It isn’t a secret that one of my secret dreams is to be a guest voice on The Simpsons. So when I saw this post on Filmonic about which real life actors should play Simpson characters, I found myself totally agreeing with the list. Check out the list and see if you agree. They got it pretty spot-on. And I mean spot-on.
  • Battlestar Galactica begins their fourth and final season tonight on the SciFi channel. I can’t believe this will be it; there won’t be anymore next year. I love this show. I love, love, love it. Looooooove it. Winner of numerous awards, including a Peabody (one of the highest of the highest), and the love of millions of fans like me, BG cannot be considered anything less than one of the best shows on TV ever. I don’t usually watch a lot of TV, but this is one of those shows that I am freakishly religious about following. So I’ll spend my time trying to figure out who the last Cylon is and soak in the amazing writing from the show. I’m a geek and am truly proud to call myself a fan.
  • This will melt your heart: a story about a 70-year-old man who is fulfilling his dream of being a first grader. Follow your dreams, keep your promises, and live your life. Nothing truer but that.

Off for a weekend of cabin-ing. Have a great one!

March 21st, 2008 Grace’s Love List - 3/21

Wall-E TrailerStillAd - ListerineGizmodo - Rocking Bed

  • Wall•E!! I just saw the trailer for this coming summer’s Pixar movie and am so excited about it. Seriously, I really am still a kid at heart. A curious robot who’s meant to be something more. I totally feel the dude. And can’t wait to see this one!
  • These Listerine still ads are smart, iconic, and effective. Imagine walking around with a breath bubble over you. Ewww and funny. If I had a breath bubble, it would be a California Roll since I eat so much sushi. LOL.
  • Saw this advert for a slick rocking bed on Gizmodo a few months back and I rediscovered it again because I was cleaning out my bookmarks. Don’t concentrate so much on the product or the video clip, but more on the writing of the posting. If only I could write this well. If only.

Sharpie - Beckham CommericalEd EmberleyPontiac Spy Hunter

  • I need to get some of the new Sharpie Ultra Fine Retractable markers. This is going to be a must-have for me since I write on slick surfaces so much. And I now need them especially after I saw this commercial for it. If it’s good enough for David Beckham, then it’s good enough for me.
  • I probably owe my love for ink to Ed Emberley. Remember how he taught you how to draw with a thumb print and a pen? I do. I think I checked out nearly all his books from our local library. And if you love him as much as I do, then check out his site. You can find download-able activities for you and your kids.
  • Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-da-dum…I hear this rhythm and think Spy Hunter, one of my favorite video games to play as a kid. And Pontiac has brought out my inner geek with their commercial for their new “G8 is Car” line. The commercial is sick! Check it out.

And with this post, I wish you all a joyous and fantastic weekend. Happy Easter!

October 27th, 2007 I Own a Cat

A nicely purring, beautifully designed copy of Apple’s Mac OS X ‘Leopard’ is now installed in my system. It’s working like a dream for me and I’m so, so happy with it. But with the joy comes the pain, which is re-installing all my various programs and praying that they’ll work smoothly with this new system.

So just a bit of a longer wait for my photos from the UK. I know my family and some friends are waiting for those. But hopefully these photos I took last night while hanging out with Allison will tide you over.

The Apple employees cheering us on. I felt like I was going up for the Price is Right.

After we got our copies of Leopard, Allison and I headed over to the food court for dinner. Haha.

Saw my friends locked up behind the glass. I so wanted to break them out.

Went back to Allison’s place and had to take a photo of us holding up our shirts.

July 17th, 2006 On Chi Pets and True Love

I HAVE FAILED AS A PARENT, AS A COMPUTER GEEK, AS A PLANT WATER-er My Chi Pet widget, the one I affectionately started calling Earl, died this morning due to lack of attention. I TOTALLY forgot to water/feed it these last two days. I posted about it just this past Wednesday and was so proud of myself for remembering to water/feed/nourish/love it that I thought I'd actually see it grow and grow. Maybe watch it learn to play the piano. Give its valedictorian address in college. Go on to a career in astrophysics and win a Noble Prize. Now, no more. *sigh* A moment of silence, please, for my dearly departed computer pet. THIS PAST SATURDAY Was Sherille and Angel's engagement party/bridal shower. I think that's starting to become a trend, no? To forgo a traditional engagement party and instead morph it with the bridal shower. At least that's what I'm seeing. And I had such a blast at the party. It's always, always good seeing friends, especially since we haven't been together like this since the holidays. I think friends should get married more often. If nothing else, then at least so we can have an excuse for a gathering. ;o) Sherille and Angel will be getting married in less than a month. I can't wait to see the day. They've been together since college and I'm so happy to have been there for it all. They're true love existing. Here are a few photos from the weekend. The rest are posted here with more coming as I finish going through the batch. HAMBLY LOVE Here are two layouts that I've done for CHA for Hambly Screen Prints. They're such an awesome company to design for. And since they're local, it's important to me that I support them. I'm so honored to be a member of their team with all the other fabulous gals, especially my two good friends Kristi and Kelly. For this show, they're coming out with more designs as well as a collection of alphabet and image rub-ons in different colors. (I've used some of the rub-ons on these layouts.) Perfect! And have you smelled their paper? Mmmm…vanilla. "Blur" "Bamboo: Cat of Destiny" Have a good day!

July 12th, 2006 Up to My Ears

-IN WEDDINGS Every weekend this summer, except for when I'm in Chicago next week, is taken up by weddings. My cousin Noel, my friends Hilarie and Sherille, my cousin in London. Engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorette parties - it's a whirlwind of girly giddiness for me. Yesterday, I took a looooong lunch break and went to the house of the seamstress who will be altering my bridesmaid dress for Sherille's wedding next month. She's so sweet. Knew exactly what she was doing. Took charge and everything. I know my dress and I will be safe in her hands. She'll work her magic to make me look more slender. Ha! So while I was there, Sherille stopped by to how things were going. Here are two pics of her (sans makeup and with a fantastic tan) I took on Mrs. Hokyo's doorstep. She's glowing. -IN WIDGETS I need to stop downloading widgets for my Mac. Bruno's already loaded with applications I probably don't need. Not that I don't have the space because I do. But I really hate wasting the space. I'm really not into wasting now. But one widget I love but always manage to kill is my Chi Pet widget. You're supposed to feed it at least every 2 days by pressing the water droplet. It'll die otherwise. I've been feeding it 6 days straight now. I'm barely remembering to do even that. I figure this is my way of knowing if I'll be a good enough mommy when my time comes. LOL. Report card via Chi Pet. See my lovely Chi Pet growing? -IN SCRAPPING What else is new? Peace, y'all.
