April 4th, 2008 Grace’s Love List - 4/4

  • I always enjoy getting stuff in the mail and I go nuts when that mailed item comes in a super creative envelope. The Envelope Collective describes the phenomenon as “art gone postal” and that’s so true. Check out the site and look through their gallery of re-purposed, arted envelopes. Fun.
  • The school-kid in me strikes again! Just ordered this ruled mug from Fishs Eddy. They also have designed mugs in graph paper, notebook lined, and script green. I plan to collect them all and keep my art pencils, paintbrushes, and the like in them. I’ll keep one, though, for drinks and write myself reminder notes while I’m enjoying some tea. Brilliant.
  • I’ll confess that I was never one of the cool kids while growing up. No surprises there. But I think I can finally get some cool kid cred if I get myself this Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine. Perpetual Kid just got these in stock and I want one bad. Like really bad. Summer’s on its way and I want to make my own fruit-flavored sno cones.

  • It isn’t a secret that one of my secret dreams is to be a guest voice on The Simpsons. So when I saw this post on Filmonic about which real life actors should play Simpson characters, I found myself totally agreeing with the list. Check out the list and see if you agree. They got it pretty spot-on. And I mean spot-on.
  • Battlestar Galactica begins their fourth and final season tonight on the SciFi channel. I can’t believe this will be it; there won’t be anymore next year. I love this show. I love, love, love it. Looooooove it. Winner of numerous awards, including a Peabody (one of the highest of the highest), and the love of millions of fans like me, BG cannot be considered anything less than one of the best shows on TV ever. I don’t usually watch a lot of TV, but this is one of those shows that I am freakishly religious about following. So I’ll spend my time trying to figure out who the last Cylon is and soak in the amazing writing from the show. I’m a geek and am truly proud to call myself a fan.
  • This will melt your heart: a story about a 70-year-old man who is fulfilling his dream of being a first grader. Follow your dreams, keep your promises, and live your life. Nothing truer but that.

Off for a weekend of cabin-ing. Have a great one!

I am so fraking excited about Galactica tonight!!! I cannot believe it’s the last one… :(
That snow cone machine just gave me the BIGGEST flash back ever. I loved it!!!

  4. Frances

Ack! I had that exact sno-cone machine (though I definitely wasn’t one of the cool kids)! Unfortunately, unless they’ve change the mechanism or if it works better in grown-up hands, I have to give a thumbs down. It took me like 20 minutes to create 1/4 cup of sno and by then it was nearly melted!

  5. Amy

You can get the Snoopy sno-cones maker at Linen’s N things, too! I bought it for my niece for Christmas. It’s fun!!! I loved them as a child, too!

I have a Snoopy Sno-Cone Maker!! My hubs and I got one for Christmas from our friends. Neither one of us had one as kids, so now we can be kids this summer!! you should come over for one okay?

and you and my hubs would totally get along. he’s a Battlestar groupie too. I told him earlier this week to set the recording for the season premiere. “don’t worry, I’ll do it” he said. well come Friday night, you think he did it? nope. so I did.

It’s amazing the things you find on a weekly basis. I’m definitely following the link for the Simpsons. And the snoopy snowcone maker… what a cool thing that it’s back out for my kids to enjoy the way I enjoyed it!

  12. Mrs. L

Complete Battlestar fan here. Came home from our crop weekend and the first thing I did was watch the first show of this season! (gotta love Tivo!).

  13. Amber Lee

Dude I totally still have my snoopy sno cone maker!!! I say get one for sure!

  14. kendra

Well I was going to tease you with a comment to the effect that you negated all your Snoopy cool-kid cred by raving about BG. However, it looks like I could get attacked by the fan club here. I suppose maybe I should think about watching it instead of assuming it’s a cheesy space show. : )

Say it loud, say it now!!
